PROJECT SPECIALITIES

With the help of this project you can find out the water level in water tank sitting at a distance form it.  You can save the water and electrical consumption of electric motor used for filling water tank.  The motor stops automatically after giving an indication that water tank has filled.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND WORKING

This project has been developed and tested O.K. in our TV Engineers Technical Lab.  The components and PCB used in the projects published in our books are available for sale at resonable price.

This project is a solution connected with the problem which is to be faced by almost every body.  Now-a-days in factory as well as in the house the water is kept in the water tanks.  Overflowing of water from the tank is a routine. This problem has been solved in this small project.  Three no. of transistors BC547 [2 no.] and BEL187 are used in this project.  In the circuit diagram the probe which is kept in the water tank is connected with the resistance of 47K.  Again this resistance goes to the base of BC547.  When water level increases in the tank and it touches the probe the base circuit is completed and bias voltage reaches to the base of the transister.  The first transister BC547 is an emitter follower and its output is available at the emitter.  It goes to the base of 2nd transister BC547.  The collector of this transister is connected directly to the base of BEL 187 transister. This transister drives a relay connected on its collector.  The motor is controlled with the help of this relay,  which goes ON/OFF as required.  This circuit works on 18V DC supply which is made of 1 stepdown transformer diode rectifier and smoothing condenser.

PRECAUTIONS WHILE ASSEMBLING THE PROJECT:-

  1. Take care while soldering so that there is no short circuit in the PCB.
  2. First of all check all the components whether they are OK are not.
  3. Use the resistance of same value which is given in the circuit diagram.
  4. While assembling transister check for transistors base, collector and emitter.
  5. While soldering diodes take care of its anode and cathode.
