PROJECT SPECIALITIES

This project is simplest and cheap IR interruption counter. You can use this project as an object counter or place at a such a place where infrared rays falls.  At the arrival of new IR rays it increases one digit and it can read up to 99 very easily.  If one more board is added to this it can count up to 9999.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND WORKING

This project has been developed and tested O.K. in our TV Engineers Technical Lab.  The components and PCB used in the projects published in our books are available for sale at resonable price.

This is the latest project of the electronic age. An infrared eye has been used in this project.  This is very simple and cheap project and made of infrared eye.  You can install this project as object counter or place at such a place where light is made ON / OFF on this infrared eye.  Infrared eye adds one more number in the FND after the arrival of new light.  Two FNDs are used in this project.  You can count up to 99 with this.  If one more FND board is added then counting can be increased up to 9999.  The infrared eye used in this project is an assembled device and it receives the infrared rays.  There are three pins in the infrared eye. Positive  5V DC regulated supply is given on pin no. 1.  Pin no. 2 is the signal output pin.  Pin no. 3 is ground.  This is a sensitive component and get spoiled if given more than 5V. To keep the supply constant IC 7805 has been used.  It gives  5V regulated DC. IC 555 has been also used in this project. This is a popular IC and used in both analog and digital circuits. The output of infrared eye is given to the pin no. 2 of the IC555. Pin no. 4 & 8 of the IC555 have been given +ve supply where as pin no. 1 is earthed.  The output of IC is available on pin no. 3. This pin no. 3 has been connected to the counter.  This counter is made of IC4033 [2 numbers] & FND [2 numbers]. IC 4033 is a decade counter and FND is a Seven Segment Decoder. The rays from the infrared eye triggers the pin no. 2 of the IC555 & output from the IC is obtained from the pin no. 3. The pulse from the pin no.3 increases one digits on the counter. If there is no pulse there is no increase in the digit on the counter.  Therefore, the name of the project is kept interruption digital counter.

PRECAUTIONS WHILE ASSEMBLING THE PROJECT:-

* Don’t solder CMOS IC directly on PCB. Use IC base for CMOS IC.

* Don’t touch CMOS IC with hands because human body get charged due to anti-static charge. It may spoil the CMOS IC.

* Take care of the polarity  while connecting condenser on pin no.6 of IC 555.

* Don’t open the infrared IC because it is a sensitive component.

* Don’t solder IC directly on PCB because many times due to leakage from the soldering Iron there is possibility of getting it spoiled.
