PROJECT SPECIALITIES

While you are doing some job in the evening and electric supply trips without any information or supply is very irregular then you have to face a lot of difficulties and you do not stop blaming the electricity board for your problems.  This project of Automatic emergency 20W Tube Light can provide us light in such situations.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND WORKING

This project has been developed and tested O.K. in our TV Engineers Technical Lab.  The components and PCB used in the projects published in our books are available for sale at resonable price.

Many small villages and towns of whole India along with many cities of this country always suffer from the shortage of electricity.  The main effect of this is felt after the evening.  It becomes too difficult for children to study and house wives to do their work.  This project is different from the project given in our book serial Vol. no. 3,  In this project ferrite core is used due to which losses are less.  This project consists of two parts.

  1. Charger Circuit
  2. Inverter Circuit

Charger is made of simple design in which full wave rectifier with a step-down transformer is used.  Only one transistor 2N3055 is used the inverter circuit.  Inverter transformer is of special design made of three windings.  Oscillation circuit is made of induction winding and 0.1 mfd/250v condenser.  On the secondary side of the transformer output is available and 20W tube light can be lighted from this.  The automatic circuit works like this.  The diode connected in the base of transistor 2N3055 in reverse polarity do not allow voltage to develop in the base circuit.  It is at 0 potential and no oscillations are produced.  When there is no mains supply, battery supplies the bias voltage and transistor starts oscillating. Current flows in the secondary side of the transformer and tube gets lighted again.

PRECAUTIONS WHILE ASSEMBLING THE PROJECT :-

  1. Excess charging of the battery reduces its life so it should not be charge continuously. There is no protection device in circuit from excessive charging.
  2. This circuit is meant for 20 Watts load. Do not use 40 Watt tube.
  3. While soldering transistor check its collector base and emitter with multimeter.
  4. While soldering diode take care of its anode and cathode.
