2B-TRANSISTOR TESTER WITH GAIN CONTROL

PROJECT SPECIALITIES

This project is a new gift of Electronic Ages. Transisters are used in good numbers. This project is a boon for small shop and workshop. You can check the transister along its gains. Though the transister are O.K but their gain being not upto mark can’t be used to make the Project O.K.

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND WORKING

This project has been developed and tested O.K. in our TV Engineers Technical Lab.  The components and PCB used in the projects published in our books are available for sale at resonable price.

These days , market are booming with transister but the gain of the transister changes in a lot of same type of transister. The transister having less gain can spoil our project , the project will be spoiled due to less gain of the transister. To ascertain the quality of transister we should have some checking device. Many time such type of transister got collected in our shop /in our workshop and it is not possible to use them. Through this project we can also check whether the transister is NPN or PNP. This project has many attractions. This project checks the transister gains also. IC 555 has been used in this project. This is a popular IC and can be used for analoge and digital circuits. In this project IC 555 is used as an oscillator. A transister BC158 has been also used. When we place the selector switch in one position for example NPN Transister checking condition, the LED lighted up. This show that this is  NPN Transister. In such  condition we do not have to use the PNP transister and in that case LED will not light up.  In this project a Three Way Selector switch has been used to check the gain of the transister. Oscillator output obtain from IC 555 on pin Nos. 3 is connected to the base of transister through three way selector switch. If LED glows brightly on switch position nos 1 and lits up slightly it show that transister gain is much less. In this project 3 pieces of diodes are used so that supply voltage remains constant [ 5.5 volts] beside being stable.

PRECAUTIONS WHILE ASSEMBLING THE PROJECT :-

While soldering the transister, take special care about base, emmiter of the transister.

While soldering the diode take care of anode and cathode of the diode.

While checking the transister keep your body away from the transister.

IC should not be soldered directly on the PCB.

There is possibility of Electronics parts being spoiled through the leakage current of soldering Iron.

In case of transister getting short, the project should not be kept ON.
