2B-WATER LEVEL INDICATOR USING IC 4049

TECHNICAL DESCRIPTION AND WORKING

For the storage of water, tanks are used in each and every house through out in the world. Water is a bare necessity and its use should be proper. As such it becomes a problem for every body when to put OFF the motor. At times the motor goes on running and water overflows resulting in wastage of electricity and water. This project can solve this problem. The project employs an IC4049 which incorporates six invertors. The L.E.Ds connected to its pin nos. 2, 6, 10, 12 and 15 gives the visual information / indication. Pin no. 1 of the IC is the supply pin. For the indication of different levels six connectors [wires] are connected to pin no. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11 and 14 respectively. These pins are connected to negative through a 100K resistance. In normal conditions, the input of IC remains in low state and output in high state. When the water level increases, the information at the first input of the IC becomes high and output low. The L.E.D. related to this glows and indicates the water level.
PRECAUTIONS WHILE ASSEMBLING THE PROJECT:-
*First of all check all the components as per circuit.
*Use IC base for mounting of the ICs otherwise IC may damage due to current leakage of soldering iron.
*Please use resistance of the exact value as given in the circuit.
*Check +ve & -ve terminal of L.E.D. while mounting on PCB.
*You should connect the “Q” connector along with metal rod between bottem and upper layer of the TANK.
